Message from Me enables young children to better communicate with their parents about their daytime activities at child care centers. Children send photo and audio messages of their activities, which parents can receive via email or text message. At home, parents can spark conversations with their children about their messages, continue learning explorations from classroom activities, and foster a sense of home-school continuity.
This app brings the functionality of the CREATE Lab's original Message from Me kiosks to the iPad. Children take pictures with the iPad camera, record their messages right on the device, and send their messages off to Mom or Dad, Grandma or Grandpa, or even aunts and uncles. With a classroom iPad, children can send messages from field trips or out on the playground. Teachers can build lessons around communication skills and technology. Parents and relatives can feel connected with their children and loved ones with small reminders of their activities throughout the day.
By adapting existing technologies so that young children can record their daily experiences and share them with their parents, Message from Me enhances parent-child conversations to improve the child's feeling of individuality, self-confidence, and well-being.
