With this app you will:
* Practice the present subjunctive with the most commonly used expressions that trigger the use of this verb tense
* Build useful vocabulary for both social and professional situations
* Learn idiomatic expressions and colloquial vocabulary to get you speaking like a Brazilian
* Improve your command of general grammar
Why do you need to learn the present subjunctive conjugation? Because there are many simple things that you can only say correctly in Portuguese with it. Say you are going to meet your Brazilian girlfriend/boyfriend’s family and you’d like to say:
“I hope I will feel comfortable with Estela's family.”
You need the present subjunctive to say this correctly. You also need it if you want to say anything like:
“I hope it is sunny during the weekend”
“We better take an umbrella in case it rains.”
“Would you like me to turn on the light?”
“I might travel to Brazil again next month.”
“I recommend that you guys don't even think about changing plans.”
Wants, wishes, recommendations, doubts, and much more can only be phrased correctly using the present subjunctive. By the way, the phrases above are all in the app.
The conjugation of this tense is not difficult. The challenge is that the tense does not exist in English. Additionally, the way we phrase certain ideas in Portuguese is very different from the way we do so in English. You need to train your brain to say things right.
