In this modern world many elderly people live alone and families are spread out, living in different towns and countries. The app helps make it easier for families to care for a loved one – no matter where they are.
The app helps a family detect if a loved one is struggling. For example, it tells you if they are becoming forgetful or not maintaining their regular daily routines, such as remembering to take medicine. And it tells you if their physical activity is decreasing. It’s important to detect a decrease in physical activity because if they don’t receive some additional help then they could be at an increased risk of having a fall or suffer with reduced independence.
The app is technically advanced and features multiple built-in phone sensors. These sensors can give a family an advance warning that a loved one is struggling and lets you respond to ensure they receive the care they need.
A built-in motion sensor automatically lets the family know when (say) Grandmother moves or picks up her phone. In the morning it is reassuring to receive a message telling you your loved one has woken up at their regular time. And if you don’t get the message you know to call her and check everything is ok.
The app lets you setup daily recurring reminders for your loved one, for example, at 10:00 every morning your Grandfather’s phone has a notification to (say) reminder him to take medicine. And you receive a message when they do it. It helps you to see if a person is maintaining their regular daily routines. You can set this up from your phone – and select the reminders and tasks to appear on your loved ones phone.
Mobile phones and tablets offer many benefits but for some older adults they struggle to use them as part of their daily lives. Perhaps they forget to charge the battery or they don’t keep it close by for when they need it (the phone is left untouched and forgotten). The app helps a family to support a loved one to establish and maintain a daily routine of having a phone charged and close by. The app tells you if your loved ones phone battery gets low and it tells you when they charge their phone – so you can call and remind them if they forget to charge their phone.
The app is designed to help your elderly loved one with ‘everyday living’. The term ‘Everyday Living’ is incredibly important and encompasses: (i) remaining socially engaged; (ii) continuing with activities that give life meaning; (iii) contributing to family or community; (iv) not feeling ‘burdensome’ to their families; and (v) continuing the role as caregiver.
The app links phones together to create a safe private group that helps people share, care and keeps people in touch. The apps built-in sensors mean an elderly relative receives a continuous stream of family news feed events from their children and grandchildren.
Please ask all your family to download the app and join your private group.
