Sheikh Muhammad Auwal Adam Albani Zaria Biography
His origins from Kano but was born and bred in Muchia Sabon Gari, Zaria. He had his primary education in the area before he moved to Barewa College Zariya. He studied Mass Communication in Bayero University, Kano. He obtained a degree in Information Technology from the Federal University of Technology Yola, Adamawa State. Before his death, he was an M.Sc (Master's) student of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria.
This is in addition to his enormous study into Islamic Sciences especially Hadith, having spent decades studying hundreds of books of hadith and teaching the same. His vast knowledge and authority in this area led him to adopting the nickname of "Albani", after the famous Muhammad Nasirudden Al-Albany. His students, many of whom are erudite scholars now, are spread all over the country, especially the Northern States and particularly from the states of Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Plateau, Bauchi, Adamawa (where he studied ICT) and many other parts of the country, and some even abroad studying further. His lectures, many of which are in Hausa in audio and video, are also found in most vendors' stores in the North.
Sheikh Albani is survived by three wives and over 20 children. He was the proprietor of the Albaniy Science Academy in the Gaskiya layout, Zaria. He was also the leader of Daarul Hadeethis-Salafiyyah School and delivered weekly lectures at Markazu-Salafiyya Centre in Tudun Wada, Zaria.
May Allah accept Mallam's good deeds in his fruitful life, and bless us by them, ameen!
Though the students were full of grief by the sudden death of the renowned Islamic scholar, they were yet fulfilled that their teacher and mentor had achieved what every Muslim hopes to in his lifetime: Martyrdom.
Sheikh Albani had throughout Saturday, February 1, engaged in conducting different lessons at his school in Gaskiya layout, Zaria. He gave the evening lectures of the day at Markazu-Salafiyya, Maje Road in Tudun Wada, Zaria, 8:15-9:30pm from the Book of Sahihul Bukhari, in the chapter of Hajj, he died 01st February, 2014 (Aged 53).
