Edward's Cello App is a very pleasing and practical tool to play cello duets. All you need are headphones/earphones and an iPhone.

The App contains a recorded version of the second cello part. The library currently includes three works: The 50 delightful Etudes by Sebastian Lee for beginners, The agreeable and appealing 21 Etudes by Jean-Louis Duport for advanced players, and the beautiful Chant Triste by Anton Arenski with harp accompaniment.

You can tune your cello to the App's tuner (A 440). The etudes can be played in 3 tempi, and you can adjust the mix of metronome and accompaniment to suit your needs.

For beginners, it is an ideal app to inspire the daily practice of rhythm and intonation while while having fun playing the cello. The 21 Etudes by Duport are for advanced players, and when played in tempo are quite virtuoso in character. There are two slower versions to help the student tackle the technical problems.

Print your part first, then place your iPhone close-by and, while wearing the earphones, tune to the A (440 Hz). Press play and that's all there is to it!

The App was created by Eduard van Regteren Altena, cellist of the Mondriaan Quartet.

The App is a free download in the Apple App Store
Duport Etude no. 1 and Lee Etudes nos. 1-9 are free.
The rest of the pieces are € 0,89 each.
After purchasing the music, the printed music will be sent to you by email as a PDF file.
