Calopsita:
It is an exotic species in the Brazilian avifauna.
The calopsita or caturra (Nymphicus hollandicus) is a bird that belongs to the order of the Psitaciformes and to the family Cacatuidae. Natural of Australia, the species was first described in 1792.
The calopsita are extremely gregarious birds that usually have a good coexistence with each other. In general, it also has other birds, even if they are smaller or more fragile.
In several tree-lined urban areas are found individuals or small flocks that have escaped or been released.
This species is highly appreciated by aviaries and in the late 40s of last century, there was the first large mutation of color, the alerquim.

food
The calopsitas are nomadic birds, moving in familiar groups or in large flocks, in search of food and water. Unlike other psitaciformes they perform most of their feeding on the ground.
