NOW SUPPORTING DUAL FREQUENCY CHIPSETS

rinex ON utilises the measurements of the new Android Raw Measurements API to produce RINEX Observation and Navigation Message Files. The app was written by NSL as part of the FLAMINGO project (https://www.flamingognss.com/). We will continue to update and maintain this app as the project progresses. The RINEX files are currently only written in version 3.03.

Current features include:

DUAL FREQUENCY: Supports dual frequency GNSS chipsets, writing observations for both L1/E1 and L5/E5a frequencies.

RINEX OBSERVATION: The app currently produces a RINEX observation file for the GPS, GLONASS and Galileo constellations. Galileo signals are sometimes ambiguous due to the E1C signal lock ambiguity and will be fixed in a later release.

RINEX NAVIGATION MESSAGE: The app currently produces a RINEX navigation message file for GPS and GLONASS constellations. Due to the use of the E1C Galileo signal, navigation messages from Galileo are unable to be retrieved.

NMEA LOG: NMEA message log may also be written.

SKYPLOT WITH PLANNER: Skyplot is included printing GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and Beidou satellites. A planner tool providing 24-hour future history is also included for GPS, GLONASS and Galileo constellations.

SIGNAL STRENGTH GRAPHIC: A plot of the signal strength is included to show current issues with receiver signal retrieval.

MARKERS: As the user logs data, a marker may be added to the observation file to indicate an interesting feature. This is also written to a map display. Markers may also be sent by a selfie stick.

MAP: Google map display showing current location and marker additions.
The user can also select constellations to be logged.

The app has been designed to work with smartphones only listed in: https://developer.android.com/guide/topics/sensors/gnss. Please let us know of any issues discovered at android@nsl.eu.com.

We hope you will find this free app useful, as part of the FLAMINGO project.
